I’m the founder and CEO of Brale, where we build regulated stablecoin infrastructure. Before Brale, I founded Dwolla, co-founded Basis Theory, and started V‑Sum. I have been wildly fortunate to build and work on things I care about with incredible people.
Across that work I’m the named inventor on a decade of issued U.S. patents covering payment-network infrastructure, including US9582788 (dynamically selecting sending & receiving accounts, priority 2010), US10607268 (social-network transaction processing), US11277386 and US11270292 (label-based security and key-pair authentication for digital electronic transfers), US11270269 (reducing information requirements in transfers), and US11580542 (distributed database at an edge application). The model in The Value Layer rests on that foundation.
Jami and I reside in Des Moines, Iowa, with our children, Dalmatians, and likely a few fish. You can typically find us at the library or art center, rolling around town on a bike, or at any place where Jami might have an exhibit or the ballet has a show.
I can usually be found on X or LinkedIn. I can regularly be found at various V‑Sum events and a number of other conferences. Although sparingly – I’m traveling a lot more recently.
